- how we uncovered pimping networks, violence, and system failure in Poland and Denmark

Through an investigative corporation between the Danish Broadcasting Corporation and TVN in Poland, two reporters uncovered how pimps have been able to run brothel networks across Denmark, where they recruit prostitutes online and circulate them around houses and apartments to maximize earning - without anyone intervening.
These prostitution networks include a Polish brothel gang, called "Braciakow," led by three brothers. Several years before they entered the Danish brothel market, the brothers were indicted by the Polish authorities for a number of crimes including forcing women into prostitution and for abusing the women and attacking competitors. The brothers have encouraged/pushed some of their prostitutes to tattoo themselves with phrases like "Faithful bitch" and "I love my master and ruler Braciakow".
In the middle of the trial, the brothers left Poland - and started a new network of brothels in Denmark. They did so until 2017 when a Polish woman burned to death in a brothel in Aalborg, and the brothers were charged with ordering the arson. Today, four years later, the trial in Poland has just started.
The story of the brothel networks in Denmark is based on - among other things - a collection and analysis of 10,000 Danish sex ads and compared with more than 150 polish ads with job offers in Denmark. Through this, we found patterns that have made it possible to map specific brothel networks.
We go through the whole process from the initial idea, data research, collaboration, and joint research in Poland and Denmark, until final publication.
